Certified Wedding & Event Planning (CWEP) Recertification Policy


At ABC we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of excellence within the wedding and event planning industry. To ensure that our certified professionals continue to uphold these standards, we have established a recertification policy that outlines the requirements and procedures for maintaining active certification status.

Recertification Eligibility Criteria:
  • Successful Completion of CWEP Program: Individuals seeking recertification must have successfully completed the CWEP program within the past 5 to 8 years.
  • Active Industry Engagement: Recertification candidates must demonstrate active engagement in the wedding and event planning industry for the previous 5 to 8 years.
  • Event Planning Experience: Candidates must have participated in the planning and execution of a minimum of three events within the past 24 months.

Non-Eligible Students:
Students who have not completed the CWEP program and are seeking to return for completion are considered non-eligible for recertification. Non-eligible students must pay a reactivation fee of $199, settle any outstanding balances of past tuition owed, and complete the program within 9 months to become eligible for recertification.

Recertification Process:
  • Confirmation of Eligibility: Recertification candidates must submit documentation verifying their eligibility based on the criteria outlined above.
  • Reassessment Fee: Upon confirmation of eligibility, candidates must pay a recertification fee of $3299. This fee covers access to updated course materials and the recertification examination and six month of membership to the Association of Bridal Consultants. .
  • Completion of Recertification Exam: Candidates must successfully pass the recertification exam to maintain their certification status. The exam assesses proficiency in current industry best practices and standards.

CEU Requirement:
In addition to the recertification process, certified professionals are required to earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs) every 5 years to stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices. CEUs can be earned through participation in professional conferences, workshops, and continuing education programs relevant to wedding and event planning.
